Three reasons USC will win
USC RB Joe McKnight could make Ohio State pay for sloppy tackling.
1. Joe McKnight: McKnight arrived in Southern California three years ago expected to pick up for the Trojans where Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush left off. Injuries and a crowded backfield have prevented that so far, but 2009 looks to be different. Word out of Troy is that McKnight enjoyed the best training camp of his career last month, and his 145 rushing yards and two scores in the opener (albeit against San Jose State) provide some evidence. The Buckeyes struggled to tackle Navy last week; they might not have a prayer against McKnight.
2. No defensive drop-off: Ohio State coach Jim Tressel watched USC tape last week and struggled to separate last year’s dominant group from this year’s Trojans defense. “They’re so sound,” he said on a teleconference. “If you took the jersey numbers off them, they wouldn’t look any different.” …
