1. Shaking it up. Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt closed practice to the media this week, the first time he has made such a move since arriving in Oxford last season. You just know he’s cooking up something. One of the best game-day coaches—especially as the underdog—Nutt will need a few surprises not only to keep Alabama off balance, but also to ignite some emotion from his team. Oddly, the Rebels have played with little emotion this fall, despite the hype entering the season.

2. Establishing the running game. It took Ole Miss three quarters before it could get any semblance of a running game going against South Carolina, and by that time, it was too late. If the Rebels can’t get TB Brandon Bolden untracked early, they must go to Dexter McCluster in the WildRebel formation earlier than they did against South Carolina. Not only is he a dynamic difference-maker, but he also will force the Tide defense to extend and cover the field laterally, which could open up some game-turning trick plays.
