Legends Poll: Among top three teams, Heisman race more interesting

Filling out a Top 25 ballot each week is a cinch these days for the 17 voters in the Legends Poll. All but four have a 1-2-3 of Alabama, Florida and Texas in some sequence.

But ask the coaching greats to take a crack at a Heisman ballot and you’re liable to get half a depth chart’s worth of names.
 
Fisher DeBerry likes Florida quarterback Tim Tebow—”for his consistency and what he’s doing for the whole team. His statistics are down somewhat from last year, but he’s their overall leader and they’re winning.”
 
John Robinson prefers Alabama running back Mark Ingram, “a great son of a gun. He’s very powerful. He’s that good back that helps you win, kind of like we had at USC.”
 
LaVell Edwards is high on Tebow … and Ingram … and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, saying, “I don’t think one guy has jumped ahead of the other two yet.”
 
Same goes for their teams, which all earned multiple first-place votes in Sunday’s poll. No. 1 Alabama picked up 10, No. 2 Florida five, No. 3 Texas two.
