Giants, Eagles square off in big NFC East showdown

 Both the Giants (5-2) and Eagles (4-2) have something to prove.

After a hot start, the Giants have lost two straight. Meanwhile, none of the Eagles’ victories have come against teams above .500, and their offense looked terrible during a Week 6 loss to the Raiders.

On Sunday afternoon, the Giants and Eagles renew their rivalry at Lincoln Financial Field, a game with important NFC East ramifications. Here are five questions that make this matchup intriguing:

1: Will the home field disadvantage continue? The road team has won the last four Giants-Eagles contests, including Philadelphia’s 23-11 victory in last season’s playoffs. That loss ended the Giants’ hopes of repeating as Super Bowl champs. Running back Brandon Jacobs still remembers the awful feeling he had leaving Giants Stadium in January.

“Oh, no question,” Jacobs said. “We knew they were hot. They played pretty well and they deserved it. They wanted it more than us.”

It is hard to figure why the road team has done so well lately in this series. But do not expect the hostile environment Sunday to bother Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who has won his last four starts in Philadelphia.

“Philly, it always seems like it comes down to the wire,” Manning said.
